They were founded by Gerard Way and Matt Pellisier. They emerged from the New Jersey Punk Scene. Gerard writes alot of the songs. They have two CDs :

Their music label changes all the time. They've been called emo, gothic, pop -punk, punk, and alternative in the past, but thats only to name a few.
